Pentax 645D
In early 2011 I was fortunate to be able to buy one of the new and hard to find Pentax medium format digital cameras. The Pentax 645D to be exact. I'm still getting used to using it, but it looks like a great camera and I hope to be able to do a lot of work with it. If you need the Pentax 645D Manual and Menu Reference in English right click on the appropriate links and use the Save As... or Download As... function. Thanks to Dave Gurtcheff and Richard Jones of the PentaxForums.com medium format forum for scanning the manuals. The camera is based somewhat on the film Pentax 645 cameras. The main difference is that it has a 40 megapixel sensor without an anti-aliasing filter instead . It can use the lenses from the film cameras, and that's what I'm using right now. Here's a link to more information about the camera: Pentax 645D. I currently have the following lenses FA645 45-85mm f/4.5, FA645 35mm f/3.5, FA645 120mm f/4.0 Macro, FA645 200mm f/4.0 and the A645 75mm f/2.8. All but the last are autofocus lenses. These were all purchased used and were originally designed for the 645 film cameras. The crop factor compared to 35mm full frame is about 0.8. Focusing is the weak point for me right now. I got spoiled using the magnified Live View images on my Canon's to help with critical focus. I'm sure I will improve with practice. The camera is noticeably bigger, but not a whole lot heavier than a 1 Series Canon with the 24-70 f/2.8 lens for example. Here is one of my first images taken with the camera: Towers of the Virgin - Zion National Park
