Lake Reflections

Back to Glacier Main page.

In spite of the many lakes and mountains, it is often difficult to get reflections due to the winds, especially on the east side of the park.  We were especially fortunate to have calm sunrises at Two Medicine, Many Glaciers, and even St. Mary Lake.  The reflections themselves are beautiful, but even better is the calm serene feeling that penetrates your soul as the sun either brightens it's glow or extinguishes it when there is no wind or waves. Here are some of the reflections that I liked the best.

Sunset at Bowman Lake

Last rays of light on Mt. Carter reflect in the calm clear waters of Bowman Lake.

Two Medicine Sunrise Reflection

With most of the rising sun blocked by clouds on the horizon a few rays light up some of the clouds and Sinopah Mountain at Two Medicine Lake.

Last Light at Bowman Lake

Walking back to camp after what appeared to be the end of a great sunset, we saw this reflection right at the end of the road.

Grinnell Point Sunrise

Clouds started to block most of the light shortly after sunrise, leaving only this band of light on Grinnell Point reflected in Swiftcurrent Lake.

Bowman Lake Sunset

High clouds are lit by the setting sun over Bowman Lake.  The calm, subdued feeling of the colors is echoed by the smooth water and the gentle ripples of the stream leading out of the lake.
