Near Page, Arizona
Back to Arizona - Utah Main PageClick on images below for enlarged view. Little Cut overlooks the Colorado River south of Page. We went there for a sunrise shoot. This first photo is looking back to the east with the sun rising behind Navajo Mountain.
The sun peeked through a narrow window in the clouds long enough to give this glow to the already red rocks in the area.
The next shots are from Horseshoe Bend Overlook. This is again a few miles south of Page. A short hike leaves you looking straight down to the Coloradao River about 800 feet below. There are no handrails. It is definitely not a place for small kids. These rocks provided some great foreground detail.
Here is a shot looking almost straight down to the left half of Horeshoe Bend. I took several pictures with the 16mm lens that easily show the entire bend, but I didn't like them as well as this one.
These next images are taken at Waterholes Canyon. It is about 5 miles south of Page. It is on Navajo land and you need to get a permit to hike there. These formations are somewhat reminiscent of the Coyote Butte ("the Wave") area in Southern Utah.
This spot just lacks a surfer below the curl to make the wave image complete.
