Zion Canyon National Park
October 1998
In October 1998 my son, Derek, and I traveled to Zion National Park in Southern Utah. We went with a group from the Brigham Young University Museum of Art. It was a trip to learn more about outdoor photo techniques and to experience the beauty of the park. The timing was nearly perfect as we found some great fall colors.
Echo Canyon is reached by climbing a series of switchbacks from the valley floor. The fall colors were intense and the overcast day kept the contrast down.
Further into Echo Canyon the streambed passes through this narrow slot canyon. It is not as deep as some of the more famous slot canyons, but is well worth the visit.
More of Echo Canyon. This is the entrance to the slot canyon pictured above.
