Everglades
January 2004
While attending a meeting in Miami I spent an afternoon in the Everglades National Park. I found some very interesting wildlife and a nice sunset to close out the day. I hope you enjoy the images.

Here is a smaller (6 feet) alligator sunning on top of a much larger napping gator. You can see the inside of its mouth if you look closely. This is the gator's natural habitat. There are no fences.

Taken from the appropriately named Anhinga Trail. A sunning Anhinga. This seemed to be a common pose.

Sunset from Flamingo, at the southern end of the Everglades. I wanted to get out closer to the water, but I started sinking into the mud and gave up that idea.

Muted colors after the sunset. The Island on the left seems to be floating.
